2003 Pirates Cove Boat Festival
Over 1,000 adults and countless children passed through the gates Saturday and Sunday to view the beautiful wood boats and frolic on the beach. This was the 6th annual Wood Boat Festival sponsored by the Perdido Wood Boat Association. More than 30 wood boats entered the competition. They were as varied as can be imagined, ranging from a Mayan dugout canoe to a 72 foot Mobile Bay Schooner. The Josephine Volunteer Fire Department also participates in the festival. The event is held annually on the first weekend in May at Pirates cove in Josephine, and also features local artists in a nautical fair.
